Cox Communications to host virtual smart dating event in San Diego on Thursday, Nov. 12 to make it easier for people to connect
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Cox Communications will be the ultimate wingman on Nov. 12 when it hosts a virtual smart dating event for San Diego singles who are tired of swiping left and right in hopes of making a lasting connection.
The free virtual smart dating event, to be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, will be a fun and efficient way for attendees to meet other singles in the comfort of their home. Cox has teamed up with dating platform MyCheekyDate to power this online event and provide it free to the public to help the community stay connected during the pandemic. Single adults ages 21 and over can register at smartdatingsandiego.eventbrite.com.
“Now more than ever, it’s important for people to make meaningful connections, so we’re helping them connect virtually,” said Chanelle Hawken, vice president of government and public affairs for Cox. “The pandemic may have slowed down in-person interactions, but we can still use a powerful internet connection to make human connections.”
While the event is not in person, attendees are still encouraged to wear their favorite outfit (and, yes, comb their hair). And good lighting is a must.
How it works:
After entering the virtual lobby for the welcome and introductions, attendees will be placed in their own private virtual rooms, two at a time, for their virtual speed date. The date will last four minutes, and when it ends, attendees will continue moving to other private rooms to make new connections and see if they’ve found “the one.”
Throughout the evening, attendees can simply click the match button for anyone they’d like to get to know better. At the end of the evening, they can select their final Date-Mate Top Picks before logging off the platform for the evening. Mutual matches are sent each other’s emails after the event.
Attendees will be able to reach the host at any time during their four-minute, virtual dating sessions should they have any questions.
